Who is Mark Eryk?

Mark Eryk is an artist living in Hollywood, Florida.  His art career began after a 2000 automobile accident in which he was sitting in his car stopped at a red light when a drunk driver rear ended him while driving fifty or more miles per hour.   Since then he has discovered a new life through his paintings.

Over the years he has made the medium of paint on canvas his own, progressing from his first rough compositions pulled from his imagination to the profiles of real people he does today.  Eryks’ work is unique.  He works in two ways.   The first is when he opens himself to the universe and asks it to use him as a vessel.  He requests to be a tool with which the universe paints with.  "I never know what I am going to paint.  The paintings done this way seem to just pop off of the canvas," states Mark.   It is in this form of painting that he feels free.  There is nothing like it, he says.  The other form of painting is one in which Mark Eryk is attempting to deliver a profile to a real person.  This form of painting is different and it comes with frustration and deep concentration while depicting the essence of a real subject.  Mark also notes, "There is a third way I paint, and that is when I do a profile of someone, but I add a background that comes from the universe".

Mark Eryk had written a book, "A New Life" in which he details his journey from the accident that landed him into a wheel chair to the success he has had in rehabilitation as told through his first thirty six paintings.  Mark Eryk is a member of the Mirca Art Group, an organization of Artists world wide working for equal human rights all over the world.
